Guest house and storage in Hjärup - Skåne

Extension & building permit drawings, 2024-2025

Extension area: 40 m²

Storage space: 7.7 m²

Located in a residential area near Lund, this project involves the extension of a private guest house for a family of four - two parents and their two young daughters. The client's vision was to create an independent living space for the eldest daughter, with the flexibility to function as a guest house in the future.

The main challenge was to design a complete dwelling within a compact space, consisting of a bedroom with a sitting area, a kitchen with a dining area, a standard bathroom and an entrance hall with integrated storage. Our solution focused on maximizing space efficiency while adhering to current architectural and engineering requirements. To make room for the new building, an existing storage building had to be demolished. To compensate, I designed a new storage room on the opposite side of the house. This not only solved the family's storage needs but also helped to create a more secluded and pleasant garden environment.

One of the main focuses of the design was to maximize natural light and create a bright and welcoming atmosphere. We also prioritized accessibility to ensure smooth movement for people with special needs. Material choices were carefully adapted to harmonize with the original house and maintain a consistent architectural identity.
