Public project - Municipal building

Architectural design and drawings

This project was inspired by the city's rich architectural heritage. I wanted to bring elements of the old city into a modern municipal building, something that feels both familiar and new.

The core idea was to redesign traditional forms such as the half-cube, open courtyards, shaded walkways with arches and columns, and a dome, all elements found in historic local architecture. I also took inspiration from the old city gate and reworked it into a central element. These forms are not only aesthetic, they all carry meaning.

The dome, for example, stands as a symbol of unity and openness. It crowns a multipurpose hall, a space for public gatherings, discussions or even cultural events, an area where the community can connect with the municipality on common ground.

The gateway form became the heart of the building. It is not only symbolic, it houses important spaces such as municipal offices, meeting rooms and vertical circulation. It is where decisions are made, reflecting its original role as the main entrance to the city.

The semi-cube is the most active zone. It houses public service areas, where people come to meet staff, wait for documents or deal with municipal tasks. It is designed to be functional yet welcoming.

To tie everything together, I designed a structure with covered walkways. These shaded paths lead visitors easily from one part of the building to another, while keeping in touch with nature and the surrounding landscape.

Overall, this building is meant to reflect the spirit of the city, respect the past, serve the present and be open to the future.
